House Extensions
We build rear, side and wrap-around extensions that are properly planned and finished to last. From foundations and structural openings through to roofing and making good, we manage the build with clear communication at every stage.
We regularly work alongside architects and structural engineers on residential extensions, and we understand the importance of coordination, buildability and keeping to programme.

A clear, properly planned scope of works
- 01To form foundations to engineer's detail and Building Control approval.
- 02To construct the extension shell in blockwork or as specified, with cavity insulation.
- 03To form structural openings between the existing property and the new space.
- 04To install roofing, rainwater goods and weatherproofing.
- 05To make good and prepare internal surfaces ready for decoration.
Scope is indicative and confirmed per project against your drawings, structural information and site conditions.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need planning permission for a rear extension?
- Many single-storey rear extensions fall under Permitted Development and do not require a full planning application, subject to size, height and location constraints. We recommend confirming this with your local planning authority before starting — we can point you to the right checks and prior approval process.
- How long does a house extension take to build?
- A typical single-storey rear extension takes eight to sixteen weeks from foundations to a finished, weathertight shell. Larger or more complex extensions take longer. We give you a clear programme before starting so you know what to expect at each stage of the build.
- Does a house extension need Building Control approval?
- Yes — all house extensions require Building Control approval regardless of whether planning permission is needed. We submit the Building Notice or Full Plans application, coordinate stage inspections, and obtain the Completion Certificate on your behalf.
- Do you manage the full extension build or just the structure?
- We manage the complete build — foundations, blockwork, structural openings, roofing, weatherproofing and making good. Where you have an architect or structural engineer involved, we coordinate directly with them. You deal with one contractor from start to finish.
